How to Have Your iPhone Read Text for You
Siri has always been the perfect assistant
for every Apple user, using it to perform many tasks with ease. But did you
know you can use Siri to read emails, articles, and other text on your iPhone,
iPad, or Mac? It comes in handy when you're multitasking and need to understand
what's on the screen, so here's how to ask Siri to read any text on your Apple
device.
How to Ask Siri to Read Any
Text to You on Your iPhone or iPad
1. Go to Settings.
2. Click Accessibility -
Voice Content.
3. Now, you can make custom
settings. Let's look at each option in detail:
- Speak Selection: This allows you to select a piece of
text and have Siri read it to you. Enabling Read Selection will display a
Read button on top of the selected text.
- Speak Screen: Enable this option to have Siri read
everything on the screen. You can swipe from top to bottom with two
fingers to hear the whole screen.
- Voice Controller: Toggling on the voice screen will
give you the voice controller option. When enabled, a square black icon
will pop up. It provides quick access to Speak Screen and Touch to Speak.
You can further customize long-press and double-tap actions.
- Typing feedback: Enable this option to provide spoken
feedback as you type. You can have Siri speak characters, words,
autocorrect, or predict as you type.
Voices: Choose from
different voices and languages for narration.
- Speech Rate: You can also adjust the narrative speed
using the Speech Rate slider.
- Pronunciation: If Siri mispronounces something, you can
add the correct pronunciation here.
